Street Youth Ministry has Bible studies on Tuesday afternoons and a Devotional Breakfast on Friday AM for the street-dependent youth they serve. Volunteers are needed help set up for the Bible study/Devotional group, help prepare food, fellowship with the youth, and facilitate discussion (no advance preparation required). This is a great way to form relationships and share the Gospel.
Street Youth Ministry serves 80 homeless youth per week and offers Bible Studies, food, etc. Street Youth Ministry needs volunteers to work and interact with clients in their drop-in cooperative space. Duties include sorting mail, organizing clothing or other donations, greeting clients, helping with kitchen duties or cleanup tasks. After a small orientation, we do not require any special requirements. Our clients are between the ages of 18-28 and are street dependent. Bring yourself and what ever skill you may have and come meet some truly remarkable people with very remarkable stories.
We have a list of handy man tasks we need help with around our aging facility. If you are interested in helping out, contact Tondra for the current needs list! Some items include: -Painting (1/2 day) -Ethernet cabling (1/2 day) -Installing water cooler (very light plumbing with stainless steel hoses) (1/2 day) -Install ELFA tracks near ceiling (1/2 day) This would be especially great to get done over our holiday break while clients are gone We have some tools but not many!
We need dedicated prayer warriors to join our prayer team! Prayer is the backbone of our Ministry and brings about the most change in the lives our clients! Join the team and you will receive specific and unique prayer requests collected by the Street Youth Ministry staff from our clients as well as prayers for the various needs of the Ministry as they arise.
We have ongoing needs such as a dollar store shopper(monthly), food pick up/delivery(weekly), and donation pick up(as needed). If you have reliable transportation and some free time please let us know if you would like to be on our pick up/delivery team! This is a shared responsibility so please contact Tondra to get on rotation! You can also be added to a list of reliable, trustworthy people we could call on when any pick up needs arise!
We provide a daily meal for our clients here at Street Youth Ministry and its a huge help to have pre-prepared casseroles, enchilads, spaghetti, tacos ect that we can take out of the freezer and pop in the oven. If you and your small group or family love to cook, whip up your faves, store in a freezer safe container, and bring them by the Drop-In any time we are open! There will be lots of happy tummies! (hint: our clients love ANYTHING with cheese!)
Game nights are a great time for your small group to get together and come on out for snacks, fun, service and fellowship with our clients! Get to know them and share stories over some friendly competition. You will help with snack prep, set up and clean up before and after the event. During the event we play games and have a BLAST! Feel free to bring your favorite games! Games nights take place the first, third, and fourth Tuesday nights of the month at 6pm. Volunteer shifts start earlier for set up. (this opportunity also available to individuals or families)
Bring your group out for a day of service at the Street Youth Ministry Drop In! Come help us get clean and organized for the upcoming week, help us with one of our MANY ongoing facility/neighborhood improvement projects, or put on a special meal/event for Street Youth Ministry Clients(planning and approval required). Contact Tondra Daily to find out about our current needs or to discuss any service/event ideas you may have!
Every Thursday night from 6-8 pm we have a time dedicated to finishing up ongoing projects around the drop in! This is a great opportunity for organizers, handy men and women, and problem solvers. Come help us knock out the big projects that keep the drop in, in tip top shape for our clients to enjoy! We always have a great time! Snacks provided! This is a great opportunity for individuals and small groups alike!
Every Saturday morning we receive donated fresh food from around the city and spend the morning chopping and prepping the food for our daily meals the upcoming week! We always need extra hands on deck to help with donation receiving/logging, washing, chopping, slicing and dicing veggies, and preparing delicious dishes!
